Hey stevia friends! Jen from BestSteviaSweetener.com back to explore Truvia’s liquid stevia offering. At $3.99 for 2.7 oz, it’s one of the most affordable liquid options available – but does the low price point come with compromises? Let’s dive in.
First Impressions
The squeeze bottle is practical but feels cheap compared to glass dropper alternatives. Truvia claims it’s 8x sweeter than sugar, with 67 servings per bottle. The serving size (¼ teaspoon) is larger than most concentrated stevia liquids, suggesting a more diluted formula.
What Makes It Different?
Truvia has taken an interesting path with their liquid stevia formulation. Instead of going for a pure extract, they’ve created a blend of water, stevia leaf extract, natural flavors, and preservatives like potassium sorbate and citric acid. This makes for a more diluted but potentially more approachable product for stevia newcomers.
Real-World Testing
My morning coffee ritual always tells the truth about a sweetener, and Truvia’s liquid offering delivered mixed results. While it dissolves easily and provides decent sweetness, I noticed a slight artificial note that pure stevia products don’t have. It takes more product to achieve the same sweetness level as premium brands, but the squeeze bottle makes measuring simple.
In cold beverages, Truvia performs reasonably well. The sweetness remains stable as ice melts, though there’s a noticeable aftertaste in plain water. It shines better in flavored drinks where other tastes help mask any artificial notes.
Kitchen experiments showed this product’s limitations. While it works fine for simple recipes and smoothies, the diluted formula makes it less ideal for serious baking projects. However, it’s perfect for quickly sweetening oatmeal or yogurt.
Value Proposition
Here’s where things get interesting. At just 6 cents per serving, Truvia liquid stevia is significantly cheaper than most competitors. However, since you need more per serving than concentrated alternatives, the real-world cost difference might be smaller than it appears.
Making The Most Of It
Through my testing, I’ve found that starting with half the recommended amount works best – you can always add more. The product really shines in flavored drinks where its limitations are less noticeable. While the plastic bottle isn’t premium, it does make dispensing foolproof compared to droppers.
Final Verdict: 6.5/10
Truvia Liquid Stevia represents an interesting compromise. While it sacrifices purity and concentration for affordability and ease of use, it might be exactly what some people need. If you’re new to stevia or prioritize convenience over purity, it’s a decent entry point. However, those seeking a pure stevia experience or maximum value per serving should probably look elsewhere.
Until next time, keep it sweet and budget-wise!

Customer Reviews:
Good vanilla five stars
By lulu, Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2024
The vanilla really comes through but I drink coffee with no milk and it’s not good in plain coffee but it’s delicious in tea and on a snow cone. It’s a great sugar alternative but it does have a strong squirt function so it’s easy to add too much so be gentle. Over all I will probably buy the caramel one after it’s out because I drink a lot of coffee and tea and warm milk.
less sweet than granules; more diluted than others
By bec in the United States on June 16, 2024
The granular form is blended with erythritol, which makes it taste sweeter than the liquid which doesn’t have it.
Pro: erythritrol has recently been linked with an increased risk of adverse health effects – so if you use a lot of sweetener every day, this is a better option. The liquid dissolves immediately and has no maltodextrin.
Cons: the Truvia brand is far more diluted than the Sweet Drops or other liquid brands, making you use way more per glass, making it a bad value. The only thing I like is the package shape and size. But if you’re using in iced tea and coffee and drink a lot of it you can run one of these down in just a few days. There are better options.

The product tastes good. The design of the dispenser needs work. I know how strong stevia is and understand that only a few drops are needed. When dispensing for the first time I held the dispenser tilted slightly directly above my coffee mug and squeezed gently, expecting a few drops to fall into the mug below. Surprise! The product shoots out in a stream! Totally overshot the mug and landed on the floor. You’ve been warned. lol

How it’s good with competitors
When it comes to liquid stevia, format and concentration make a huge difference in both value and usability. I’ve tested numerous liquid stevia products over the years, and I want to share my experiences comparing Truvia’s budget-friendly approach with two popular alternatives: NOW’s BetterStevia and Enzo’s flavored drops. Each takes a unique approach to liquid stevia, but Truvia’s accessible price point and mainstream availability create an interesting dynamic in the market.
Let’s analyze how Truvia’s liquid stevia measures up in real-world use. I’ll break down the key differences in formulation, taste, and value, explaining why each might be the right choice for different needs. With Truvia’s focus on affordability and ease of use, but inclusion of preservatives and natural flavors, the results reveal some interesting trade-offs.
Truvia vs NOW BetterStevia Drops:
Comparing these two reveals stark differences in formulation philosophy. BetterStevia’s 8oz bottle offers a more concentrated formula with fewer additives, while Truvia opts for a more diluted, user-friendly approach. BetterStevia’s organic certification and cleaner ingredient list justify its higher price point, though Truvia’s squeeze bottle might be more approachable for beginners. In taste tests, BetterStevia shows superior purity with less aftertaste, while Truvia’s more processed formula becomes noticeable in plain water or simple beverages. Value-wise, BetterStevia’s concentration makes it more economical long-term despite higher upfront costs.
Truvia vs Enzo Flavored Drops:
The contrast with Enzo’s flavored stevia line highlights interesting market positions. While Truvia offers a basic sweetener at a budget price, Enzo embraces premium flavored varieties that expand stevia’s versatility. Enzo’s diverse flavor options (from caramel to chocolate peanut butter) provide creative possibilities that Truvia’s plain formula can’t match. Though Enzo’s 4oz bottles cost more, their concentrated formula and flavor additions often justify the premium. For those seeking simple sweetness, Truvia suffices, but Enzo’s flavored options open new doors for sugar-free cooking and drinks. The choice often depends on whether you prioritize basic functionality or creative versatility. Copy
