Tired of stevia products loaded with fillers? Frustrated by bitter aftertastes and mysterious ingredients? As someone who’s tested nearly every stevia product on the market, I was skeptical when DureLife claimed their stevia extract was “100% pure with no aftertaste.” But after weeks of rigorous testing, what I discovered might surprise you.
The Pure Stevia Promise: What’s Different About DureLife?
While most brands blend their stevia with erythritol or other fillers, DureLife takes a boldly different approach. With 5,000 servings in an 8oz bag and a micro-spoon included, they’re betting that stevia purists will appreciate their no-compromise formula. But can a pure extract really deliver great taste without the bitter notes that plague many stevia products?
The Numbers That Matter
- 5,000 servings per container
- Zero fillers or additives
- Less than 1 cent per serving
- 100% pure stevia extract
- One micro-spoon = two teaspoons of sugar sweetness

The Truth About Taste: My 3-Week Testing Journey
Week 1: The Daily Coffee Challenge
My morning coffee ritual is sacred – and usually the downfall of most stevia products. DureLife’s first test came at 6 AM with my dark roast brew:
- Day 1: Surprised by how little I needed (just a tiny pinch)
- Day 3: Mastered the micro-spoon technique
- Day 7: No more missing sugar in my coffee
Week 2: The Baking Experiment
This is where pure stevia usually falls apart. I decided to test DureLife in my famous keto chocolate chip cookies:
- The Challenge: No bulk from fillers
- The Solution: Recipe adjustments needed but worth it
- The Result: Family couldn’t tell they weren’t sugar-sweetened
Week 3: The True Tests
Time to push the limits:
- Iced tea (The dissolving test)
- Lemonade (The citrus acid test)
- Smoothies (The blending test)
- No-bake cheesecake (The ultimate challenge)

At around $20 for 5,000 servings (yes, you read that right), DureLife Pure Stevia Extract is an incredible value – if you’re willing to learn how to use it properly. While it’s not the most convenient option out there, it’s possibly the purest stevia product I’ve tested.

Customer Reviews:
Awful! Lots of reasons!
By LGG803, Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024
This stuff is just awful. I bought it because I wanted stevia without erythritol, which I couldn’t find locally.
Here are the reasons I have dumped this product from my canister into the garbage:
1) It is powdered, not granulated. When pouring it into (or out of) my canister, it emits a noxious cloud of fine particles that, when inhaled, cause choking and coughing. Not a good sign.
2) It tastes awful – like a bitter chemical. Renders anything you add it to inedible. It promises no aftertaste, but it also has a bitter aftertaste.
3) It is extremely, extremely slow to dissolve, even in very hot liquids. It left little white powdery clumps floating in my coffee. And when I added it to a 3-liter bottle of Crystal Light I was mixing up, it creates a lot of frothy white foam (??), which lingers a long time; the foam and powdered product were taking forever to dissolve during rigorous shaking; and the plastic 3-liter bottle began to expand upon shaking – so I quickly removed the cap and there was a rapid expulsion of gas under pressure. What is in this stuff??
No Erythritol! Pure! Great Price per Volume. But hard to dissolve. It’s a compromise
By TLynn in the United States on January 1, 2025
After exhausting multi week research looking for Stevia online that was pure, no additives, and not get price gouged for that privilege, I have found this Durelife 100% Pure stevia extract sweetener 8 oz | No Erythritol on Amazon. The pure form of Stevia is naturally harder to dissolve in liquid. It is an extremely fine powdered chalk substance that transfers to the air like dropped flour if not used carefully. Some reviewers on Amazon were just outraged by this and the hard to dissolve issues for some reason. I didn’t really get all the venom toward the issue, but it was quite a few people. Yes, this product is challenging to use. But WORTH IT. You adapt. Because you will be very challenged to locate online this much volume of pure Stevia with no erythritol at such a fantastic way under the market’s price for its weight. If convenience of use is more important than higher prices per unit grams, and eating a dangerous substance like erythritol, then by all means, don’t buy this. But I’m sticking with this for now. I carefully transferred the contents of the bag into a large empty protein powder jar. Very patiently and methodically I might add, lol. Wear a mask and use a light fan if you must, lol. It also SUPER SWEET! Only a double pinch is needed for say, an 8oz cup of coffee. But I do I agree with my fellow reviewers on the challenging ease of use, hard to dissolve, and transfers to the air too easy parts. So, I took off only one star for all of that.

I had written a review of this product when I first tried it. I have since found a couple of things that so changed my opinion that I have to rewrite this. There is extra bitterness to this stevia, however I think I’ve determined that it’s more due to using too much . It’s a powdery substance as opposed to a granular substance. The consistency and the scoop that they give makes it very difficult to get what you would think was a nice level scoop. The end result was that I was putting in more than I should have. So the known bitterness of stevia was even stronger. In other words the sweetness is there but there’s a little extra bitterness in this brand however when used cautiously so you get the right amount, the bitterness seems to be typical for stevia. I like it in coffee where I don’t get any of the bitterness at all. I’ve been using it in cereal and while initially I found the bitterness overwhelming, when I use it in the right amount it sweetens my cereal without making it bitter. So overall I would say there’s a little extra bitterness to this stevia but it’s very sweet and the biggest problems with it are putting the right very small amount into whatever you’re having. I haven’t tried it in baking yet. The NOW brand, is granular so it’s easier to get the right amount, however it doesn’t dissolve as easily in hot beverages, and that brand is not as sweet as this.

The reviewers who say you only need a tiny bit of this sweetener are correct! It’s worth it to dig for the tiny scoop in the bag and use it to measure. Yes, it can be messy so I recommend placing the opened bag into a larger Ziploc bag so it can contain any spills. I transferred some of the product into a small jar that I can dispense from, and I will refill as needed. I don’t use a full scoop in my coffee as it sweetens so well. It WILL be bitter if you use more than you need. Because I need so little to perfectly sweeten my coffee, this is a great bargain for me.

How it’s good with competitors
When it comes to pure stevia extracts, purity and concentration make all the difference in taste and usability. I’ve tested numerous stevia products over the years, and I want to share my experiences comparing DureLife’s Pure Stevia Extract with two popular alternatives: Stevia in the Raw and Enzo. Each takes a different approach to stevia formulation, but DureLife’s commitment to absolute purity creates an interesting benchmark in the market.
Let’s examine how DureLife measures up against these competitors in real-world use. I’ll break down the key differences in purity, taste, and practicality, explaining why each might be the right choice for different needs. With their claims of zero fillers, no erythritol, and included micro-spoon for precise measuring, DureLife makes some significant promises about their product’s quality and usability. After extensive testing in everything from daily beverages to complex baking projects, I’ve discovered some surprising insights about how their pure approach actually performs.

DureLife vs Stevia in the Raw:
The comparison between DureLife and Stevia in the Raw reveals a stark contrast in philosophy and formulation. While DureLife offers a pure, undiluted stevia extract, Stevia in the Raw uses dextrose as a bulking agent for easier measuring. This difference significantly impacts both use and value – DureLife’s 5,000 servings per container dwarf Stevia in the Raw’s yield, but require more precise measuring. In taste tests, DureLife shows a cleaner, more natural sweetness, though it takes practice to use correctly. For baking, Stevia in the Raw’s bulking agents make it more beginner-friendly, while DureLife requires recipe adjustments but offers more control over the final taste. Cost-wise, DureLife’s concentrated format provides superior long-term value, though the initial investment is higher.
DureLife vs Enzo Stevia:
Comparing DureLife with Enzo presents an interesting match-up between two pure stevia approaches. Both brands prioritize purity, but their execution differs. DureLife’s included micro-spoon and larger bulk packaging (5,000 servings) targets value-conscious power users, while Enzo’s measured approach might be more approachable for some. In taste testing, both deliver clean sweetness without bitter notes, though DureLife’s price per serving edges out ahead. For baking and cooking, both require similar recipe adjustments, but DureLife’s larger quantity makes it more economical for frequent bakers. The choice often comes down to personal preference in measuring systems and package size rather than significant differences in the stevia itself.
